3 Ways to Celebrate National Dog Day

Updated: Nov 28, 2018

What? It's National Dog Day? Run to the store and pick up as much bacon as your cart can fit and please, ignore the judgmental looks from nosey onlookers.

I've only had the pleasure to celebrate one National Dog Day with my beautiful pup. How you celebrate yours will be unique to whatever you and your furriend like to do. If your dog is lazy, maybe they want couch cuddles and a nice hooman (but dog-friendly) dinner. If your pooch is active, a run by the lake, perhaps a boat ride followed by some ice cream (vegan so as to avoid a situation).

1. Know your Audience Is your dog highly active? Super lazy? Shy? My dog is obsessed with fetching balls..... ummm you know, tennis balls. On National Dog Day, she was taken to the dog park all freakin' day to run her little heart out. And you know what else? She got not one, but two timbits (plain of course).

2. Think about Furriends If your dog is shy for instance, maybe you just want to keep your day low key and relaxed with you and your pup. If your dog is a social butterfly, maybe you want to bring them to the dog park or bring them round to see their aunts and uncles :)

3. Food This goes without saying, a full belly is a happy dog. Is your dog a fussy eater? Stomach issues? Fill their day with delicious treats without upsetting their stomach. But lets face it, sometimes, a good dessert is worth a bit of an upset stomach. It just depends on HOW upset.

Dogs brings such joy into our lives and lets face it, they are ALWAYS there for us whether we like it or not. I think we should really take the time to show them just how much we appreciate them.

Happy National Dog Day! Woof.
